During the time course of this project we will use our links in the Caribbean and Africa to explore applying its outputs to Low and Middle income countries (LMIC) populations.

Creole Study

Dr Dike Ojji

In this arm of AIM HY study, we are taking advantage of the uniqueness of the data set that is being generated from the ‘The comparison of three combination therapies in lowering blood pressure in Black Africans’ (CREOLE) study to carry out genetic and phenotypic (including metabolomic) profiling with the ultimate goal of individualizing hypertension therapy in this population group. We also intend to compare the data set generated in our population (Black Africans) and those generated in Europe and North America. CREOLE study is led by AIM HY collaborator, Dr Dike Ojji, Head of Cardiology Unit, Department of Internal Medicine, the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Nigeria

The Patient Forum

Share your comments on “your life with hypertension” and/or your experience of AIM HY INFORM Clinical Trial.

"I was diagnosed with high blood pressure more than 10 years ago. In August 2015, I had a Coronary Angioplasty surgery when three stents were inserted in one of my heart's arteries. My symptoms improved a bit but not significantly. In August 2017, I saw an advert inviting people to participate in the AIM HY programme. I hurriedly offered myself as a guinea-pig. I have only started the first round of dual therapy and believe me, I am feeling so much better.
For the first time in many years, I ran to catch a bus without feeling short of breath. I have opted to be an ambassador of this programme because it is effective.
I want as many people particularly from the ethnic minorities to benefit."
